Introductories

About the site.
The site presents a sampling of my photography, art and other interests and endeavors.  Content is presented in a non-linear manner, i.e., you must visit the various pages to find out what's there.  My hope is, of course, that during the course of your explorations, you'll discover some items you find worthy of a return visit.  There are images and videos for your eyes, music for your ears, writings for your intellectual stimulation and/or amusement, starships for your diversion (if you want a new hobby), and a long list of projects with which I can surely use your help.  There are a couple of ways to contact me: the 'Contact Page' and the 'BeNote Me Page'.

Zeusman.
Zeusman - a collection of ten QAP (quantum abstraction poems) the tenth of which also bears the name of the entire  collection.   Each poem is typically about 10 minutes in length and all ten are set to a full musical accompaniment. Most of the music accompanying the Zeusman QAP videos was written, electronically performed and digitally recorded by a single, amazingly talented individual: Kevin MacLeod.

1.  Ishtar's Hill.  Derivations from the Golden Age - a response to Santillana, Von Deschend and Hamlet's Mill.
2.  Space Station.  Arrival on earth.  A pre-history of the myths of planet earth.
3.  E Pi Log.  In response to Kubrick, Clarke and man's destiny beyond the earth.

QAP - Quantum Abstractions & Quantum Abstract Poetry.
QAP - my attempt to invent - or at least to describe - a graphic, literary or tonal art form that utilizes abstract quanta primarily for their aesthetic and evocative qualities. In other words, QAP is the pursuit of (or rather, the configuration of) words, or forms, or tones, or any combination of them, in such a manner as to produce a sensation - an awareness - of something separate and apart, something distinct from (the main, conventional) context.

Quantum - not simply in the sense of 'an amount', but more in the quantum physics sense of a unit of energy the movement of which is inherently random.

Abstract - unconnected to concrete reality, intangible, unsubstantial.

For a better 'definition' of QAP, it may be helpful to consider the work of John Lennon and Lewis Carroll. Lennon wrote nonsense poetry in the form of meaningless, senseless, codeless placement of words on paper, thereby transmuting color into white and achieving nothing disguised as something. Carroll wrote something - Jabbewocky - disguised as nothing, i. e., a code, a mystery to be solved.  QAP, in comparison, attempts to present tantalizing fragments as a pageant of ambiguous abstractions intended to be experienced but not solved or decoded.

Alternately, if the above piece (which I may entitle "Engadine", or "Lake Silvaplana", or "Pyramidal Block") doesn't gently disconnect your catenary logic circuits and free up some pleasant endorphins, here is one you probably won't like either, but at least its set to music - written and recorded by Shawn Farrell - which might be entitled "40 watt QAP"; or, "dreams you could never know"; or, "water tower leaks"; or...?
Nietzsche. Zarathusta, humanity, abstract art, 2001.
From Friedrich Nietzsche (Thus Sprach Zarathustra - 1888) comes the statement: Man is to be overcome, and the question: What have you done to overcome him?  Nietzsche provided an answer in the form of a three part metamorphosis culminating in a superman-child.

Eighty years later, Richard Strauss,  Stanley Kubrick and Arthur Clarke provided a cinematic version (2001: A Space Odyssey) of Nietzsche's spiritual poem. I loved it; some did not.
